Looking ahead to 2019!
I hope you all have had a great New Year’s Eve! I certainly did at least, never expected to go into a new year while watching a Pokémon movie drunk of all things. But that’s not what I’m here for today. Instead, I’d like to share some of my plans and ideas for 2019, and overall just have a casual talk really. I don’t feel like I always talk to you guys enough unless you’re in my Discord Server (hint hint wink wink) so I might as well. I’ve been trying a bit more through Social Media as well like hinting what my next review is going to be, but that’s been it mostly.
Since I started my website in October, I’ve had an absolute blast working on this project. I’ve made several articles so far and even had a special week dedicated to a specific franchise! Not to mention the amount of new people I’ve met through my articles, if just for small talk or for actual lasting contact. I won’t deny that my website is hard work, but so far it was definitely worth it. Heck, I even used Wikipedia and Metacritic as advertising, I’ve truly went that far. I definitely have no intention of stopping yet, and I hope you will all stay with me to make 2019 a blast! That said however, the beginning months of 2019 might be a bit rocky, and here’s why:
So positively for me: I’ll be starting a new job in two weeks! I’ve been unemployed for two, almost three years and only have had a part-time job, but soon I will finally start as a Software Tester. This is obviously great news for me and I’m very much looking forward to it. But every positives do have their negatives. I will be working 40 hours a week and only have the evenings and weekends free essentially. Adding to that, for the foreseeable future I will very likely also have to deal with 12 hours of travel each week. So yes, I will be very busy. The positive thing about travelling is that I will be using the metro, so I can still game or write down my ideas while travelling. Eventually I may or may not decide my own work times so I can basically put it better to my liking, though for now this will have to do. Not the worst thing in the world really.
The past few months I have been following an unofficial schedule where I published articles every Monday and Thursday. I can’t guarantee I will still be able to do that in the coming weeks. I could if I relied on short Indie titles, but that would get old very fast, and I still want to play games that I actually enjoy. So basically it could still be four articles a week, maybe three per two weeks or even less, I don’t really know. My life and rhythm will change quite drastically from what I’m used to in the coming weeks. Don’t worry though; while I can’t promise how the future will go, I will at least make the promise of one review per week. I truly promise that
The website itself
I might do a rework on the site eventually. For now the site does look good, but I’m also that one person who is never satisfied. In this case I’m mostly referring to the banner. It looks good on PC with it’s unique form and I can mess around with it quite a bit. However, if you look at the website on phones or tablets, that banner is completely useless and shows the hidden space where the title usually is. It’s a minor complaint really, but I won’t deny that it annoys me greatly. Also doesn’t make sharing on Social Media or anywhere else easier since the banner is the first thing they will see. And not only that; if the title of the article is longer than one line of text, the banner will just shrink on PC! WordPress infuriates me sometimes I swear. For now the theme will do just fine, but I might brainstorm a bit throughout the year and maybe find a different theme more suited towards my tastes.
A few weeks ago I also started a new series of articles called Love/hatestories. Over time I am planning to make a few more categories as well, which may or may not be related to a special themed weed. I have planned two at the very least now, which I will do whenever. I also gave a slight hint about livestreaming earlier, but that is at the moment of low priority. I have no experience streaming yet, and it doesn’t really have to do anything with my site in general. One day, but I can’t say when. Probably when I move out of house because currently streaming in my room wouldn’t be the most efficient thing to do.
That’s basically all for today, and my plans for at least the first half of 2019. I hope you’re looking forward to the new year as much as I am. The past few years have all been meh or just straight forgettable, but I’m not wishing for this year to be a good one; I am going to make it a good one. Thank you all for reading this and I will see you soon!
